When to use

Example
"A team fixes individual bug reports one by one (local scale). Zooming out reveals that 60% of bugs cluster in one module (pattern scale). Zooming out further reveals the module was written by a contractor who left no documentation (system scale). The leverage point is documentation standards, not faster bug-fixing."
Common misuse
"Staying at the scale where you feel competent. If you are a detail person, you will zoom in and stay; if you are a strategy person, you will zoom out and stay. Both are comfort, not analysis."
