Feedback Loops
Create mechanisms where system outputs influence future inputs
When to use
"Use when a system's outputs should influence its future inputs. Create explicit feedback mechanisms — positive (reinforcing) or negative (balancing). Without feedback, the system cannot adapt to its own outcomes."
Example
"A recommendation system shows items, users click or ignore them, the system learns from clicks what to show next. The feedback loop (clicks influence future recommendations) is what makes the system adaptive rather than static."
Common misuse
"Creating feedback loops with long delays. If the feedback arrives after the system has moved on, the loop cannot correct. The speed of the feedback loop determines the speed of adaptation."
