Is there really no catch with the free tier?

No catch. We're in beta building the best mental models API. Free tier stays free even after we launch paid tiers.

What happens when I hit the rate limit?

You get a 429 response with a Retry-After header. Wait a few seconds and retry. We don't ban or throttle beyond the window.

Do I need an API key?

Not currently. The free tier is fully open. API keys will be introduced with the Pro tier for usage tracking and higher limits.

Can I use this in production?

Yes. The API is production-ready and running on Cloudflare Workers with global edge deployment. Response times are typically under 50ms.
